Exceptions to the Clovis rules

  • No watering during and for 48 hours after rain (city Water page).
  • The posted schedule applies to outdoor water use including car washing. Use a hose with an automatic shut-off nozzle (city Water page).
  • Do not waste water or allow water to flood the premises or run into streets. Violating the city conservation program is waste under CMC 6.5.110(k).

Fines in Clovis

  1. 1The published codified CMC 6.5.110(b) lists a warning, then $30, $60 and $90 for successive violations within one year, with $90 for later violations.
  2. 2The code also provides meter installation for an unmetered account at the fourth violation and possible audits or service restrictions. A June 15, 2026 amendment, Ordinance 26-04, could not be read, so these provisions may have changed.
